Here, in my opinion, are the top 10 players in the league today.

• 1.Kevin Garnett
because he dominates on both offence and defence with his huge wingspan and wiry frame. He has beautiful hands and can play any position on the floor even at 7'0". He is the quiet floor general for his Minnesota Timberwolves.
• 2.Tracy McGrady
is an offensive specialist with great flash and a huge vertical. He is the leader on a struggling Orlando Magic team.
• 3.Tim Duncan
is an old school power forward who is down to earth. He doesn't have the flash of Kevin Garnett or Tracy McGrady. But for his San Antonio Spurs, he does the job and then some.
• 4.Shaquille O'Neal
is the most dominant player in the NBA. At 7'3" and 340 pounds, no one can control him once he gets his position under the basket. But he is useless from the free throw line shooting around 50%.
• 5.Kobe Bryant
shares the Lakers with Shaquille O'Neal and is a great athletic player with a beautiful fade away shot. He has the ability to adjust his shot in the air to further the chance of it going in. Also, Kobe is a great defensive player with extremely fast hands.
• 6.Peja Stojakovic
is arguably the best shooter in the league. He won the 3 Point Contest two years in a row. Peja took control of the Sacramento Kings when Chris Webber went out with a serious knee injury.
• 7.Allen Iverson
is a speedy little devil to say the least, who is always pestering the opposing point guard on defence. On offence, he is continually bumping and banging with the big men inside. Sitting at 6'0" and 180 pounds that's quite a feet.
• 8.Zach Randolph
is the most under rated player in the league. Averaging 20+ points and 10+ rebounds, he didn't even make the All-Star team. With stats like that, you think he would be starting. He is now the leader of the Trail Blazers, now that Rasheed Wallace has left.
• 9.Jermaine O'Neal
is a young player who exerts the same amount of energy on both offence and defence. He has a great inside game on both ends of the floor. Hitting turn around fades on one end, and blocking shots on the other, he can take control of any game.
• 10.Jason Kidd
is easily the best point guard in the league. This year, he is averaging 16+ points and 9+ assists as wells as 6+ rebounds. He has 9 triple doubles this year as well. Leading the New Jersey Nets to one of the top spots in the East.

Now, here is a list of the top 10 players ever to play.

• 1.Michael Jordan
is the best player ever to play in the league. No one even thinks to question this. He had awesome all around skills and was a great leader on the court. He won 6 championships with the bulls. During his career he averaged, 30.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5 assists.
• 2.Wilt Chamberlain
dominated in the years that he played. "Wilt the Stilt" averaged 30.1 points and 22.9 rebounds per game during his career.
• 3.Kevin Garnett
is the best player today in the NBA. In his career, Kevin has averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists.
• 4.Larry Bird
was a superb shooter at 6'10" and won many championships with the Celtics while he played. During his career he averaged 22.3 points 10 rebounds and 6 assists.
• 5.Tracy McGrady
is an awesome player today in the league. He is an amazing player on offence. So far, he has averaged 21.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
• 6.Magic Johnson
was a great passer and point guard at 6'9". Many have compared the young Lebron James to him. During his illustrious career he averaged 19.5 points, 11.5 assists, and 7 rebounds.
• 7.Oscar Robertson
was a great all around player. In his second season in the NBA, he average a triple double. He is the onyl player ever to do so. As a player, he averaged 25.7 points, 9.5 assists, and 7.5 rebounds.
• 8.Tim Duncan
has his basics to a tee, and will dominate this league for years to come. Almost halfway through his career, he has averaged 22.8 points, 12 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks.
• 9.Shaquille O'Neal
is absolutely the msot dominant player in the league today. So far with Orlando and Los Angeles, Shaq has averaged 27.1 points, 13 rebounds and 2.5 blocks.
• 10.Kobe Bryant
is one of the most stylish players in the NBA, he makes everything in the game look easy. Since his rookie year, Bryant has averaged 21.7 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Finally, listed below are my favourite players.

• 1.Stromile Swift
is my absolute favourite player, mostly because of his fierce passion for the game. I like how he goes into every game with huge intensity. He also has amazign athletic ability and long arms enabling him to do MONSTER dunks.
• 2.Kevin Garnett
is in my opinion the best player in the NBA. He is phenomenal at prety much everything the game entails. He is a great all around player and is an awesome rebounder.
• 3.Carlos Boozer
is a young, high spirited player. He is a very physical player and is second in command to Lebron James on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
• 4.Lebron James
is the future of the NBA. He and Carmelo Anthony will lead the league into the Post-Jordan Era.
• 5.Tracy McGrady
is an amazing player. I think I have said all I need to say about him above, to explain why he is in my top 10.
• 6.Chris Bosh
is one of the top rookies this year. He is a lanky forward/center who plays for the Toronto Raptors. He is a lefty with a complete inside game as well as great shot blocking ability. He is the future for the Raptors organization.
• 7.Ben Wallace
is, in my opinion, the best defensive player in the league. He is 6'9" and still is second in the league in both blocks and rebounds. Also, he is currently sixth in steals.
• 8.Jamaal Magloire
is one of my favourite centers. I love his feel for the ball and in his fourth year he is constantly improving. He is also a strong player inside and knows how to play defence, which I find is lacking in lots of the players in an offensive league.
• 9.Kenyon Martin
is an amazing baller. He and Jason Kidd connect atleast once each game for an alley-oop. He always attacks the basket with great intensity and power, and that is my favourite thing about him.
• 10.Jason Kidd
is a very talented player. He makes passing into an art of his own and rebonds the ball amazingly well for a guy only at 6'4". He is the natural leader of the young New Jersey Nets squad.

The Memphis Grizzlies are one of my favourite basketball teams. I like them because of their fast paced offence and their ability to play as a team. They have no amazing standouts but my favourite three on their team are:

• 1.Stromile Swift, because of his great athleticism and rebounding abilities. Also, I LOVE his dunks especially alley-oops and put backs.
• 2.Pau Gasol, who to me, is one of the best european players in the league. Even at 7'0" he can play any of the forward positions and is a great ball handler for his size.
• 3.Jason Williams, who is one of the best pure point guards in the NBA. He always is thinking about the final outcome and is a beautiful passer.
  
  

  The Detroit Pistons are another one of my favourite teams. I love the way they hustle on defence and always fight. Now with both of the Wallaces I would say they are the best shot-blocking team in the league. My favourite three on their team are:

  • 1. Ben Wallace, who to me, is the absolute best defender in the league. His ability to rip down that rebound, block that shot, or get that steal is unmatched in this league.
  • 2. Richard Hamilton is the scoring leader for the pistons. He is known for his excellent movement without the ball creating open shots for himself. He is also good on the other end of the floor creating many tunrovers and pestering the other teams shooting guard.
  • 3. Rasheed Wallace is one of the only players in the NBA that has an equal game from both in the post and behind the three-point line. He is a great shot-blocker and helps fuel the Pistons team with his intensity. Some people call his attitude cocky, but I like to look at it as a "We Will Win" Attitude.

  Canadians in the NBA

  There aren't very many Canadians who play in the NBA. But, there are a few standouts who worship the Maple Leaf.

  
  • Steve Nash is the most well-known Canadian Baller. He is a great point guard who sees the floor very well and is a great shooter from beyond the arc. But is he the best? That's a question being thrown around quite a lot nowadays.
  • A man by the name of Jamaal Magloire is quickly sneaking up on Nash. He was the only Canadian in the All-Star game this year. Many people believed that he got on the team out of straight luck. He proved most of his doubters wrong by leading the East in scoring during the game. He is different from Steve Nash in that he is a Center with great hands and a big body. He is my favourite Canadian player.
  
  Congrats K.G.!

  Congratulations Keving Garnett on being voted this year's Most Valuable Player of the NBA. He established 11 regualr season records this year and put up his best year so far in his career statistics wise as well as getting his team through the first round of the playoffs which is something the T-wolves haven't done with Kevin Garnett on the team.

  My Basketball Career

  I have been playing basketball for quite a long time. I started when I was in grade 4, and have played at many different levels since then. I play either a center or a power forward, because of my height, 6'3". I average about 10 or 12 points per game as wells as 13 or 14 rebounds, and 2 or 3 blocks. I am now 15 years old and am playing on 4 teams. My School Team, went to the Provincials and finished a respectable 16th in the Province. The regular Club Team that I played for won the city championship in double overtime 83-80. My Rep Team just had its first tournament in Vancouver where we went 3-1 and beat the 3rd placed team in the Province. Coming up on June 11,12,13, our team is hosting a tournament! Come out and watch! The Regionals team didn't do so well in the Provincial Jamboree where we tied for 12th.
